Young Writers’ Summer Camp

Don’t let the heat stifle your kids’ creativity. Our workshops are designed to teach kids the fundamentals of creative writing in an encouraging and imaginative environment.

All workshops are designed and conducted by Mariam Tareen, the founder of The Writing Room. Mariam has an MA in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway, University of London (2013) and has been teaching writers of all ages for several years.

Storytelling Essentials

Duration: 3 days
Course Fee: Rs. 6,000

About the course: Our most popular workshop to introduce new students to the fundamentals of storytelling. Students will learn the storytelling recipe, discover how to use their senses to describe character and setting, and learn basic story arcs.

Journalism: Writing Reports
Duration: 2 days
Course Fee: Rs. 4,000
About the course: Help your child develop their curiosity and communication through journalism. Students will learn how to come up with interesting ideas for an article or report, how to conduct research on their topic, and organise their thoughts into a clear structure, with plenty of examples to illustrate their points.

Writing From Life: Personal Essays
Duration: 2 days
Course Fee: Rs. 4,000
About the course: Writing From Life is a non-fiction workshop where students learn to write stories from their own lives. They will be encouraged to explore details of their surroundings in terms of setting and learn to describe the people around them as interesting characters. The essentials of storytelling will apply, except that these stories will be true.

All students will be awarded completion certificates. Please note that the course fee must be paid in full to confirm registration.
